What We Must Remember this Memorial Day
The Civil War was the deadliest U.S. war with the most casualties. Soldiers died in battle and perished by other means as well, such as heat stroke. Many of the comforts we take for granted every day, like heaters in the winter or air conditioning in the summer, are things the soldiers could have only dreamed about.
A battlefield is a cruel place, sparse in comforts and rich in suffering. On Memorial Day, it’s important to remember that many of the luxuries we enjoy each day, like air conditioning, are ours only because veterans fought to keep our Country free.
The Origins of Memorial Day

Waterloo, New York, is considered the official birthplace of what is now known as Memorial Day. Originally, Memorial Day was known as Decoration Day.
Citizens placed flowers and flags on the graves of the soldiers who had died. Today Memorial Day is a federal holiday that celebrates all fallen soldiers. Across the United States, people use the three-day weekend as an opportunity to honor the veterans in their lives, attend parades, remember family members and ancestors who died in the military or spend time with friends and family.
Honoring Veterans of the Armed Forces

Remember, veterans then and now have to deal with memories of things they might have endured, and many of our veterans have lost comrades and family on the battlefield.
It is only due to veterans living and deceased that we can still live peacefully today in our democratic country. To get more involved in the Boston area, be sure to ask your local VFW how you can help. Many veterans still need our help, and there’s no better reminder than Memorial Day.
Grateful for Our Clients

We also want to express additional gratitude if you served in the armed forces or if you had family members who served in our Country’s military.
We want you to know how thankful we are to live and work in a country that you helped defend. For Memorial Day, we ask our readers to remember all the brave soldiers who have fought for our Country, whether they served in the Civil War, World War I, the Gulf War, or another war.
Our Country has only been safe from hostile takeover for so many years thanks to the men and women who serve in our military branches, and we owe them gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy today.
